Nikon D3S shoots up to ISO 102,400

March 28, 2010

In the world of photography, a camera that can shoot at a high ISO setting while generating little to no noise in the resulting images has long been a far-reaching goal. But in recent months camera makers have made great strides in that direction.

Nikon recently released the D3S, an amazing dSLR that can shoot at the stratospheric ISO of 102,400. Of course at that ISO setting the photos will come out rather noisy, but you can also take photos in virtual darkness at that setting.

For low noise shots you can still go up to ISO 12,800 before the noise starts to get really annoying.

There are certainly many advantages to the Nikon D3S in addition to the high maximum ISO, but that advantage alone makes it a camera worth talking about. If you decide to purchase one however, be prepared to shell out over $5,000 just for the camera body alone.
