Sprint launches HTC Evo 4G WiMax capable phone
Sprint Nextel has launched the HTC Evo 4G, the company’s very first WiMax-capable phone. The unveiling took place at the CTIA trade show on Tuesday. An Android-based phone, the HTC Evo 4G is powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and HD video-capable camera.
It also features a 480×800 pixel 4.3-inch screen which will show movies and videos. A nice extra touch is a nifty “kickstand” that allows the user to set the device on a table for easy hands-free viewing.
Sprint also took the opportunity at CTIA to say that its speedy WiMax network will reach 120 million Americans by the end of 2010. They are poised to make a major push for the expansion of Wi-Max technology, and the new EVO 4G should help – at least that’s their hope.
